Chairman – Brian Friend
Brian Friend took up the position as Chairman of the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership in February 2008 and, subsequent to the merger, became Chairman of Natural Enterprise in June 2010. Brian is now retired from his position as “Head of Through Life Capability” for BAE Systems Integrated Systems Technologies (Insyte) at Cowes, Isle of Wight. His background is in Electronic Engineering Design, Project Management and more recently Strategic & Business Planning. Brian has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and is a Member of Institute of Electric & Electronic Engineers. He is a keen golfer.
Vice-Chairman – Lynn Clarke
Lynn Clarke was previously Chairman of the Island 2000 Trust and, subsequent to the merger, took on the role of Vice-Chairman of Natural Enterprise in June 2010.
Lynn moved to the Island in 1979 to begin a teaching career. She joined Friends of the Earth and, with them, actively campaigned for better recycling. This interest facilitated a change in occupation, joining South Wight Borough Council as a Recycling Officer in 1993 and from 1995 with the newly formed Isle of Wight Council. The role also entailed promoting ‘Agenda 21’ an initiative which sought to develop sustainability across many areas of Island life.
In 2000 Lynn moved to Island Waste Services, to promote all aspects of the new company’s plans for recycling and retired in 2015 when the contract ended.
Lynn is an active member of her local community of Nettlestone and Seaview.
